Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a StaffCyber Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and willsupport the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn moreabout the GBSD program here.

What you will get to do, specific duties toinclude, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performs technical planning, systemintegration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability andeffectiveness analyses for total systems.

  • Analyses are performed at all levels of totalsystem product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation,operation, maintenance and disposal.

  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversionof customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledgetechnical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Performs functional analysis, timelineanalysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interfacedefinition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware andsoftware specifications.

  • Cyber Systems Engineers, as part of amultidisciplinary systems engineering effort:

  • Define stakeholder security objectives,protection needs and concerns, security requirements, and associated validationmethods;

  • Identify and assesses vulnerabilities andsusceptibility to life cycle disruptions, hazards, and threats;

  • Provide security considerations to informsystems engineering efforts with the objective to reduce errors, flaws, andweakness that may constitute security vulnerability leading to unacceptableasset loss and consequences;

  • Identify, quantify, and evaluate thecosts/benefits of security functions and considerations to inform analysis ofalternatives, engineering trade-offs, and risk treatment decisions;

  • Have fundamental knowledge of Systems Engineeringpractices, network technologies, system development life-cycles andmethodologies, and insight into information technology infrastructuremanagement/monitoring and applications;

  • Recommend and implement system enhancementsthat will improve the performance, reliability, and security of the systemincluding installing, upgrading, monitoring, problem resolution, andconfiguration

  • Ensure systems are operated, maintained, anddisposed of in accordance with internal security policies and practices outlinedin the security plan

  • Provide analysis, design, development,implementation and security assessments to ensure compliance with NationalInstitute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-53,CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF Knowledge Service guidance.

  • Apply Cyber Security technologies, includingCOMSEC, COMPUSEC, EMSEC, and OPSEC, computer systems, digital communicationssystems, network protocols, computer architectures, and computer securitypenetration tools and techniques

  • Apply analytical and evaluative methods andtechniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness ofCyber Security implementation

  • Support the continuous assessment of IAControl compliance for the program

  • Define system security requirements and associatedverification methods;

  • Develop security views and viewpoints of thesystem architecture and design;

  • Design proactive and reactive securityfunctions encompassed within a balanced strategy to control asset loss andassociated loss consequences;

  • Perform system security analyses in supportof decision making, risk management, and engineering trades;

  • Demonstrate through evidence-based reasoning,that security claims for the system have been satisfied;

  • Provide evidence to substantiate claims forthe trustworthiness of the system; and

  • Leverage multiple security and otherspecialties to address all feasible solutions so as to deliver a trustworthysecure system

  • This position’s standard workschedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour dayMonday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.



    Basic Qualifications:

  • Education andExperience: 14 Years with BS; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD

  • US Citizenship with anActive Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years)

  • Experience in anEngineering role with responsibilities in the planning, designing,implementation, testing, and delivery of a system with Cyber/InformationAssurance requirements

  • Experience with design,implementation, compliance, testing of cybersecurity controls

  • Excellent communication(written and oral), negotiation and interpersonal skills necessary to supportknown ISSE activities/challenges working with engineering teams, management,customers, partners and government

  • PreferredQualifications:

  • CSSLP certifications,e.g., Security+, Network+, Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT), RMF

  • IAM Level II/IIIcertification

  • Experience with ModelBased Engineering (Cameo preferred)

  • Experience with systemsengineering tools (DOORS)

  • Experience withCommunication Systems and ICBMs.

  • Experience withCommunication systems, RF and digital hardware design and Networking.

  • Travel:25%
