As the Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator, you will:
  • Use a combination of print and electronic media to highlight agency programs, goals, and objectives.
  • Create and edit marketing materials; such as articles, brochures, and fliers.
  • Manage the Division social media presence.
  • Design, recommend, and manage public outreach programs.
  • Develop website and blog content.
  • Respond to requests, issues and problems from the general public.
  • Manage the recruitment and coordination of volunteers/interns.
  • In addition, you may be the spokesperson for the division to disseminate information to the media.

    The best qualified candidate for this position will have 2 years (or more) in each of the following:
  • Creating and editing publicity materials.
  • Building digital exhibits.
  • Managing professional social media accounts.
  • Project organization and management.
  • Event planning and coordination.
  • You should also demonstrate high level verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with a wide variety of internal and external audiences.

    Additional preference may be given to applicants with a background in archives, libraries, or museums.

    The Division of Archives is an energetic, collaborative office with several cross-sectional teams working together on a variety of interesting and unusual projects, from state records to genealogy to historical oddities. We're always discovering ways to use these records in new and interesting ways using emerging preservation technologies. We work closely with public entities of all sorts, from the Governor's office to the governments of the smallest counties and cities in the state, so each day is different.     The purpose of the is to assist Utah government agencies in the efficient management of their records, to preserve those records of enduring value, and to provide quality access to public information.

  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
