Description

If you looking for an exciting opportunity in the world of cyber security,the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) needs you! We are seeking a cyber security expert for our Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) position. As theCISO, youwill be responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining the USBE information security program. This includes development and enforcement procedures and policies designed to protect enterprise communications, systems and assets from both internal and external threats. The CISO may also work alongside the IT Leadership to procure cyber securityproducts and services and to manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans.


As the CISO, you will:
  • Protect USBE communications, systems, and assets from internal and external threats.
  • Anticipate new threats and actively work to prevent them from occurring.
  • Work with USBE leadership across different departments to ensure that security systems are working smoothly.
  • Reduce the organization's operational risks in the face of a security attack.
  • Conduct employee security awareness training.
  • Develop secure business and communication practices.
  • Identify security objectives and metrics.
  • Choose and purchase appropriate security products from vendors.
  • Ensure that USBE is in regulatory compliance with applicable USBE, State and Federal rules and laws.
  • Enforce adherence to best security practices.
  • Ensure the company's data privacy is secure.
  • Manage the Security Incident Response Team to include conducting electronic discovery and digital forensic investigations.


  • The ideal candidate for this position has:
  • 3+ years of Information Security experience
  • Effective leadership and management skills
  • Strong understanding of information technology and security
  • Strong communication skills specifically the ability to communicate complicated security concepts to technical and nontechnical employees
  • Prior experience with risk management and auditing
