Are you a Registered Dietician? Do you have nutrition education and experience with food service? The Healthy Living through Environment, Policy and Improved Clinical Care (EPICC) Program with the Department of Health seeks you as part-timePublic Health Nutritionist. As the Nutritionist you will work 20 hours per week within the EPICC program and coordinate activities related to Food Service Guidelines and Healthy Food Access among community partners and local Heath departments. Travel is required.


As the Public Health Nutritionist you will:
  • Build/facilitate coalitions related to enhancing food/nutrition environments.
  • Lead statewide food environment assessments to include food environment scans, foodservice/food retail management assessments, community food needs assessments.
  • Engage in food policy councils, State Nutrition Action Coalition and other coalitions to provide a health/nutrition perspective and advocate for food/nutrition environment policy implementation.
  • Promote healthy food choices in a variety of food environments including retail (grocery, corner/convenience stores), institutional food service environments (higher education, hospitals), and food pantries.
  • Promote adoption of evidence-based food & beverage standards in foodservice environments.
  • Lead project planning efforts related to food environments.
  • Supervise public health nutrition interns.
  • Consult with partners to provide training and expertise on healthy food environments.
  • Coordinate with program evaluator/epidemiologist to meet data/evaluation needs.
  • Write grants and funding proposals to support work responsibilities.
  • Write reports federal grant progress reports and health impact statements.
  • Has a degree in nutrition/food science/dietetics or public health, environmental/sustainability studies, or relatedfieldwith health/nutrition coursework.
  • Is a Registered Dietician.
  • Has expertise and experience in nutrition science.
  • Has an educational background in food service.
  • Has interest in public policy at federal/state/municipal levels.
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has two years of direct related work experience in healthy food promotion/access.
  • Has the ability to supervise public health nutrition interns.
