The project manager oversees varying team projects from inception through completion, and focuses to 1.) optimize team performance in executing major initiatives, and 2.) continually report progress to stakeholders.These often complex, strategic projects frequently include stakeholders and contributors from external organizations and across multiple internal departments and levels. The project manager stays informed on projects within the team and ensures that organizationally adopted project management best practices are adapted and used consistently and improved continuously.The individual develops detailed project plans and schedules, and ensures that projects meet departmental requirements, standards, policies, and deadlines. This individual is a go-to person on the team, function, and organizational level, and is well networked in the organization.The project manager monitors and reports project statusincluding risks, issues affecting project schedules, and milestone achievementsto stakeholders and departmental leadership.
