WSP is currently initiating a search for a Traffic Team Lead for our Salt Lake City, Utah office. This position will function as the task lead on major projects for UDOT and local agency clients. The Salt Lake City office has a long history working with local clients and vendors to develop cutting edge designs. This position will continue this work by leading traffic analysis and operations efforts as well as traffic signal, signing, pavement marking, and ITS designs for freeways, local streets, and intersections. As a Senior Supervising Traffic Engineer, this position works as part of a project team and leads traffic related tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Supervision and technical oversight of junior technical staff
-Traffic Operations and Design Supervision and Quality Control
-Traffic signal design and timing
-ITS design and operations
-Signing and Marking plans
-Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) design
-Lighting analysis and design
-Traffic engineering analysis
-Operations analysis for arterials, intersections, freeways, ramps and interchanges
-Business Development and Proposal Writing
-Coordination with other engineering disciplines

- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution
- Fifteen years or more of experience in traffic engineering design and operations
- Project Management experience
- Previous experience with DOTs and other Municipalities including marketing
- Knowledge of traffic design principles
- Knowledge of transportation planning and traffic analysis tools
- Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
-Master’s Degree in Transportation
